Prof Tchoyoson Lim (MBBS, FRCR, MMed Diag Radiol), graduated from the Medical Faculty of the
National University of Singapore in 1988, and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of
Radiologists, UK and Master of Medicine (Diagnostic Radiology) DGMS NUS in 1995. He was a
Visiting Neuroradiology Fellow at the University of California at San Francisco in 1997-8 and joined
the National Neuroscience Institute in Singapore in 1999, where he is Senior Consultant diagnostic
clinical neuroradiologist.
He has co-authored 100 manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, 6 book chapters, and a recent issue
of the Neuroimaging Clinics on the subject of CNS infections in 2023. His primary research interest is
in clinical/translational neuroimaging research using CT and MR imaging techniques, particularly
diffusion, tensor/kurtosis, perfusion, arterial spin labelling, spectroscopy; for applications in CNS
infection, neoplasia, ischemia, and paediatrics. He is also involved in online continuing medical
education, disease databases, medical applications of computers and PACS; more recently, learning,
cognitive bias and error, theory of medical education and assessment have become more
interesting. Prof Lim has held various research grants and patents, sits on journal editorial boards
and reviews for research grants and medical ethics IRB.
Currently, Prof Lim is Clinical Professor at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, and is also Visiting
Professor to Huashan Hospital Fudan Univeristy (Shanghai) and Zhejiang Chinese Medical University
(Hangzhou). He is President, Asian-Oceanian Society of Neuroradiology and Head & Neck Radiology,
and has held portfolios including Academic Vice Chairs of Education and Research in Duke-NUS
Singhealth Radiology ACP, Secretary of the Singapore Radiological Society, President of the College
of Radiologists Singapore, Chief Examiner, Diagnostic Radiology Certifying Exam, Royal College of
Radiologists/Master of Medicine (Diagnostic Radiology), and External Examiner for Malaysian and
Indonesian Boards of Radiology. Prof Lim is Core Faculty of two Radiology Residency programs,
Member of the Residency Advisory Committee, has been Course Director, Preparatory Course
Faculty, co-mentored 2 PhD students and has won several teaching awards. He enjoys organizing
multi-disciplinary team conferences as Visiting Consultant to nearly all restructured hospitals in
Singapore, and has been greatly blessed by his wonderful family and supportive staff and colleagues.
